What does manual quoting cost your agency?
Most agencies have never put a number on the typing. Set your volume, your carrier count, and who does the work. The math does the rest.
Minutes per carrier portal
Agencies tell us 15 to 20 for personal lines, more for commercial.

Where these numbers come from
The formula is simple: quotes per month, times carrier portals per quote, times minutes per portal, at an hourly rate. No multipliers, no funny business.
The defaults come from real agency calls. One agency timed a quote at 45 minutes start to finish. Another described the rater-to-carrier loop: run the rater, then go back into the carrier portal and start from page one. A third pays an offshore VA $6 an hour and still cannot keep up with volume.
The numbers leave things out on purpose. Error rework (one wrong VIN character restarts a portal session), chasing clients for missing info, and the deals that die while quotes sit in a queue. The real cost is higher than what this page shows you.
FAQ
Common questions
Where do the default numbers come from?
Prospect and client calls. Agencies consistently report 15 to 20 minutes per carrier portal for personal lines, more for commercial. The $25/hr in-house and $6/hr offshore VA rates are what agencies tell us they actually pay.
Why does carrier count multiply the cost?
Because manual quoting is sequential. The same client gets typed into each carrier portal, one at a time. Eight carriers means eight rounds of the same data entry.
What does the automated comparison assume?
Portals running in parallel, with your team spending about 10 minutes reviewing intake and results per quote. Carrier count stops mattering because carriers run at the same time, not one after another.
Is this a quote for Relay?
No. It is a workload estimate using your inputs. Relay pricing depends on volume and is on the pricing page. The calculator is here because most agencies have never put a dollar number on the typing.
