Loss Runs

How to request loss runs from Allstate.

Allstate is one of the largest personal lines insurers in the US. It sells mainly through exclusive Allstate agents and its direct channel, not through independent agencies. Its independent agent business runs through National General, an Allstate company, so an Allstate-branded policy sold by an independent agency is often National General paper. Check the dec page before you decide where to send the request.

For independent agents, Allstate loss runs usually come up when you are quoting an account that is currently with Allstate. That means you are almost never the agent of record, and the request runs through the insured.

How to request

Carrier rep

General guidance

The insured's servicing Allstate agent or Allstate customer service. Since you are not the agent of record, have the insured request their own claim history (for personal lines this is often a letter of experience rather than a commercial-style loss run), or send a signed letter of authorization with your request.

Agent portal

If the policy was actually written through National General, Allstate's independent agent channel, the agent login on nationalgeneral.com/agents opens the natgenagency.com portal, where appointed agents service documents for accounts they write.

What to include in your request

  • Named insured exactly as it appears on the policy
  • Policy number(s) and the policy periods you need
  • Years of history requested (three to five is standard)
  • A signed letter of authorization from the insured, since you are usually not the agent of record on Allstate business
  • Where to send the report (your agency email or fax)

Sources and verification

Allstate's main site blocked automated access during verification and publishes no loss run request channel we could confirm, so no email, phone, or turnaround is listed. National General's public agent page confirms it is Allstate's independent agent channel, and its agent login opens the natgenagency.com portal. Verified 2026-07-11.

Common questions

Can an independent agent pull loss runs from Allstate?

Not directly on Allstate exclusive-agent or direct business. The insured requests their own claim history from their Allstate agent or customer service, or you submit a signed letter of authorization. National General policies are the exception: appointed agents service those through the National General agent portal.

Does Allstate issue loss runs for personal auto?

For personal lines, carriers including Allstate typically provide a letter of experience or claim history summary rather than a commercial loss run. Ask the insured to request it from their servicing Allstate agent.
