Loss Runs
How to request loss runs from Auto-Owners.
Auto-Owners Insurance, based in Lansing, Michigan, writes personal and commercial lines through independent agents, with more than 100 claim offices across its 26 operating states. Loss run requests come up most on commercial package, auto, and workers comp accounts being remarketed.
How to request
Agent portal
Appointed agents sign in through the Agency Sign In on auto-owners.com, which points to aoins.com. Auto-Owners does not publicly document which reports the portal exposes, so start there for accounts you service and ask your underwriter if loss history is not self-serve for your line.
Carrier rep
General guidanceRequest loss runs through your Auto-Owners underwriter or the servicing branch for accounts you write. If you are quoting an account you do not yet hold, have the insured request through their current Auto-Owners agent.
What to include in your request
- Named insured exactly as it appears on the policy
- Policy number(s) and the policy periods you need
- Years of history requested (three to five is standard)
- Your agency name and producer code if you are the agent of record
- A signed letter of authorization from the insured if you are not the agent of record
Sources and verification
The agent sign-in route, the independent-agent-first service model, and the 26-state claim office footprint are verified against auto-owners.com. Auto-Owners publishes no loss-run request email, form, or turnaround time, so none is listed here. Verified 2026-07-11.

Common questions
Can an Auto-Owners policyholder see their own claims history online?
Partly. Auto-Owners' online access lets policyholders view details of past claims, but that view is not a formal loss run. Carriers issue formal loss runs, so route the request through the servicing agent or an Auto-Owners rep.
Can I get Auto-Owners loss runs if I am not the agent of record?
Not directly. Either the insured requests their own loss history through their current Auto-Owners agent, or you include a signed letter of authorization from the insured with your request.
