Loss Runs

How to request loss runs from Great American Insurance Group.

Great American Insurance Group is a Cincinnati-based specialty commercial property and casualty carrier, a member of American Financial Group, writing through dozens of specialty divisions. Loss runs come up most often when remarketing a specialty commercial account.

How to request

Agent portal

Great American's Agent Portal FAQ (document 5763-PCG, dated 11/2024) documents three places to pull a loss run: the Policies home page (select the Actions icon for the policy, then View Loss Run), the Policy Details page (View Loss Run button, top right), and the Billing Summary page (View Loss Run in the Action menu if you have full policy permissions).

General guidance

For policies that do not appear in the Agent Portal, or for divisions outside the property and casualty group, request the report through your Great American underwriter or division service contact.

What to include in your request

  • Named insured exactly as it appears on the policy
  • Policy number(s) and the policy periods you need
  • Years of history requested (three to five is standard)
  • The Great American division that wrote the account, since the group runs many specialty divisions
  • A signed letter of authorization from the insured if you are not the agent of record

Sources and verification

Portal loss run steps verified in Great American's published Agent Portal FAQ. A loss run request email circulates in third-party guides, but it is not published on Great American's own site, so it is not listed here. No turnaround time is published. Verified 2026-07-11.

Common questions

Where exactly are loss runs in the Great American Agent Portal?

Three places, per the carrier's own portal FAQ: the Actions menu next to a policy on the Policies home page, the View Loss Run button on the Policy Details page, and the Action menu on the Billing Summary page.

How long does Great American take to send loss runs?

The portal route is immediate for policies you can see. Great American does not publish a turnaround for requests handled by a rep, so ask for a date when you submit.

Can I get Great American loss runs if I am not the agent of record?

Not through the portal. Send a signed letter of authorization from the insured with your request to the servicing division, or have the insured request their own history.
