Loss Runs

How to request loss runs from Hippo.

Hippo is a home insurance agency, not a traditional carrier. It sells homeowners policies underwritten by affiliated and non-affiliated carriers, and it handles service through the Hippo Portal and Hippo Home app. Loss runs are a commercial-lines term. On a personal home policy, the equivalent is your property claims history, which lives in the CLUE database and on your Hippo account.

How to request

Email

Hippo works with agents and lists agent support at agents@hippo.com and an agent line at (650) 426-0546. If you placed the policy, start there for policy documents and claims history.

Phone

For claims and history on a Hippo policy, Hippo's claims line is (855) 999-9746 and customer support is (800) 585-0705. Policyholders can also review current and past claims in the Hippo Home app or Hippo Portal.

Online form

For full home claims history, including claims filed by prior owners, the homeowner can request their own LexisNexis consumer disclosure report, which includes CLUE property claims data, online, by phone, or by mail.

What to include in your request

  • Named insured and the property address exactly as on the Hippo policy
  • Hippo policy number
  • The policy periods and years of history you need
  • Whether you are the policyholder or the agent who placed the policy
  • For a CLUE report: your name, address, and date of birth, since LexisNexis verifies identity

Sources and verification

Hippo's agency (not carrier) model, agent support (agents@hippo.com, (650) 426-0546), claims line (855) 999-9746, support line (800) 585-0705, and Hippo Portal and app claims access were verified by fetching Hippo's public site. The LexisNexis consumer disclosure request route (online, phone, or mail) was verified on its public portal. Hippo does not publish a commercial-style loss-run form, which fits personal lines, so the CLUE and Hippo-account routes are given instead. Verified 2026-07-11.

Common questions

Does Hippo do loss runs?

Loss runs are a commercial-lines report. Hippo writes home insurance, so the equivalent is your property claims history. Review claims in the Hippo Portal or app, or pull a CLUE report from LexisNexis for the full picture, including claims by prior owners.

Who underwrites a Hippo policy?

Hippo is the agency, not the carrier. Policies are issued by affiliated and non-affiliated carriers, and the issuing carrier is named on your policy documents. Claims history on that policy is available through Hippo and through your LexisNexis CLUE report.

How do I get my home claims history for a Hippo policy?

Log into the Hippo Portal or Hippo Home app to see claims on your policy. For a complete property history, request your LexisNexis consumer disclosure report online, by phone, or by mail.
