Loss Runs
How to request loss runs from National General.
National General, an Allstate company, is Allstate's independent agent channel. It writes personal and commercial auto, RV, motorcycle, home, and specialty lines through one of the largest independent agent networks in the country. Loss run requests most often come up on commercial auto and nonstandard auto accounts being remarketed.
One wrinkle worth knowing: an Allstate-branded policy sold by an independent agency is often National General paper. Check the dec page so you send the request to the right place.
How to request
Agent portal
Appointed agents sign in from the agent login on nationalgeneral.com/agents, which opens the natgenagency.com portal. That is the first place to pull policy documents and reports for business you write.
Carrier rep
General guidanceIf a report is not available self-serve for your line, request it through your National General sales rep or the service contacts listed inside the portal.
What to include in your request
- Named insured exactly as it appears on the policy
- Policy number(s) and the policy periods you need
- Years of history requested (three to five is standard)
- Your agency name and producer code if you are the agent of record
- A signed letter of authorization from the insured if you are not the agent of record
Sources and verification
Agent login route and Allstate ownership verified on National General's public agent page; the agent login opens the natgenagency.com portal. The portal itself is login-gated, and National General publishes no loss run email, form, or turnaround time. Verified 2026-07-11.

Common questions
Is National General the same as Allstate for loss run purposes?
They are separate books. National General is Allstate's independent agent channel, with its own agent portal and service contacts. Requests for National General policies go through National General, not through an Allstate exclusive agent.
Can I get loss runs from National General if I am not the agent of record?
Not directly. Either the insured requests their own claim history, or you submit a signed letter of authorization from the insured with your request.
