Loss Runs
How to request loss runs from Safeco.
Safeco no longer exists as a brand. Liberty Mutual retired the Safeco name on April 25, 2026 and now markets all of its personal lines under the Liberty Mutual brand. Policies were not changed and insureds kept their agents, so a request that used to go to Safeco now goes through Liberty Mutual's independent agent channel.
Safeco wrote personal auto, home, and specialty lines through independent agents. That means a loss run request here is usually a claim history or letter of experience on a personal lines account, not a commercial loss run.
How to request
Agent portal
Appointed agents service former Safeco personal lines business through Liberty Mutual's agent portal. The agent portal logins sit on Liberty Mutual's independent agent pages, which also confirm the brand change: Safeco customers kept their agent relationships and their policies were not impacted beyond the name. Pull policy documents and claim information there first.
Carrier rep
General guidanceIf the claim history you need is not self-serve in the portal, request it through your Liberty Mutual territory manager or the service channel listed inside the portal.
What to include in your request
- Named insured exactly as it appears on the policy
- Policy number(s) and the policy periods you need
- Years of history requested (three to five is standard)
- Your agency name and producer code if you are the agent of record
- A signed letter of authorization from the insured if you are not the agent of record
Sources and verification
- Liberty Mutual announcement: Safeco brand retired (April 25, 2026)
- Liberty Mutual independent agent page (answers 'What happened to Safeco?')
The brand retirement date and the agent and policy continuity are verified against Liberty Mutual's announcement and its independent agent page. Liberty Mutual publishes no claim-history request email or turnaround time for this channel, so none is listed here. Verified 2026-07-11.

Common questions
Does Safeco still exist?
As a brand, no. Liberty Mutual retired the Safeco name on April 25, 2026. Policies and agent relationships carried over, so former Safeco accounts are serviced as Liberty Mutual personal lines business.
Do personal lines accounts have loss runs?
Carriers keep claim history on every policy, but personal lines underwriting usually works from a claim history or letter of experience rather than a commercial loss run. For auto and home, the insured can also pull their own CLUE report from LexisNexis, which lists claims across carriers.
Where do old Safeco portal bookmarks point now?
Safeco's public agent pages now resolve to Liberty Mutual's independent agent site, and the agent portal logins live there. Update your bookmarks rather than relying on old safeco.com URLs.
