Loss Runs

How to request loss runs from State Auto.

State Auto is a Columbus, Ohio based super-regional carrier that wrote personal and small commercial coverage in 33 states through roughly 3,400 independent agencies. Liberty Mutual completed its acquisition of State Auto Group on March 1, 2022.

The State Auto website still operates. It presents the company as part of Liberty Mutual while stating it continues to run under the same brand, products, and systems, and it directs agents to the SAConnect portal. Liberty Mutual has been consolidating its independent agent brands since the deal (it retired the Safeco name in 2026), so expect servicing for State Auto business to keep shifting toward Liberty Mutual channels.

  • Original State Auto policy number(s) and the policy periods you need
  • Years of history requested (three to five is standard), including years written before the Liberty Mutual transition

Common questions

Does State Auto still exist?

State Auto has been part of Liberty Mutual since March 1, 2022. Its website still operates under the State Auto brand and directs agents to SAConnect, but Liberty Mutual has been consolidating its agent-facing brands, so servicing paths can change.

Who do I ask for loss runs on a State Auto policy?

Start with SAConnect at saconnect.stateauto.com if you are appointed. If the report is not self-serve there, route the request through your Liberty Mutual rep and include the original State Auto policy numbers so the loss history can be located.

Can I get State Auto loss runs if I am not the agent of record?

Not directly. Either the insured requests their own claim history, or you submit a signed letter of authorization from the insured with your request.
