Loss Runs

How to request loss runs from Travelers.

Travelers is one of the largest commercial lines writers in the US and distributes through independent agents. Loss run requests come up constantly on commercial accounts being remarketed, and Travelers is one of the carriers where agents can generate the report themselves instead of waiting on a service queue.

How to request

Agent portal

Travelers runs a self-serve Loss Reports system for accounts you have access to. Per the quick guide Travelers publishes for agents, you reach it from the Losses tab in the Account Inquiry portal, identify the account by policy number, account number, SAI number, or producer code, set an accident date range, and output the detail loss report as PDF or Excel. Travelers says reports are available 24 hours a day and claim data is updated daily.

Agent portal

For E&S business written through Travelers' Northfield and Northland companies, the NorthLink system has its own Loss Runs option: search by policy number or insured name, or generate batch loss runs for up to 10 policies at once, output as PDF.

Carrier rep

General guidance

If a policy does not show in your loss report access, ask your Travelers underwriter or account executive to run it, or have the insured request their own claim history.

What to include in your request

  • Named insured exactly as it appears on the policy
  • Policy number(s) and the policy periods you need
  • Years of history requested (three to five is standard)
  • Your agency name and producer code if you are the agent of record
  • A signed letter of authorization from the insured if you are not the agent of record

Sources and verification

Both loss-run guides are published by Travelers and were fetched directly. They are older documents (the Loss Reports guide dates to 2007, the NorthLink guide shows 2016 screens), so screen names may have shifted; the self-serve model is the verified part. Travelers publishes no loss-run request email or turnaround time. Verified 2026-07-11.

Common questions

Can Travelers agents pull loss runs without contacting the carrier?

Yes, for accounts they have access to. Travelers' Loss Reports system generates a detail loss report on demand in PDF or Excel, and the Northfield E&S side offers the same self-serve through NorthLink.

How current is the data in Travelers loss reports?

Travelers' own guide says new claims and financial information update daily, with financial values as of the current day minus two.

What if I am not the agent of record on the Travelers account?

You will not have portal access to it. Either the insured requests their own loss history, or you submit a signed letter of authorization from the insured with your request.
